In retirement now, I live on a lifestyle block near Nelson, New Zealand, with my husband Murray, pursuing my interests in outdoor activities, writing, reading, and yoga. In my spare time I keep chooks, make compost, and weave flax mats to stop the chooks scratching mulch off our hillside orchard. I enjoy producing and preparing food.

This is not my first foray into publishing. In 1990 Gina Price and I were tasked to study aurorae - the spectacular bands of light which transform the Polar skies - in Alaska and Antarctica. The book, Frost Bytes, based on email letters exchanged between us, is truly "A story of two women at opposite ends of the earth."
It has all the ingredients of a great adventure story - action, danger, romance, humour and tragedy, with an unusual twist - the heroes are women in the male-dominated field of physics.

Over the years I've been involved in many clubs and committees, mainly to do with the children’s school and sports. My hobbies have included cake decorating, patchwork quilting, golf, reading, musical theatre and, since the late 60's, an abiding love of travel.

Paul and I retired to the Redcliffe Peninsular in 2007, and with more leisure time I became interested in our family's history. Before my father passed way in 2009, I was able to record his reminiscences and organise his photographs.
To seek out more records I joined the Queensland Family History Society. The State Archives, Trove and Ancestry.com have also been of great help to me in my research. My family history has become an addiction!
